Compressed NFTs (cNFTs) are a newer, cheaper format for minting large collections on Solana. While they cost much less to create, they have some limitations compared to standard NFTs — particularly with certain wallets, marketplaces, and tools that don’t yet fully support them. The cNFT Migration tool converts your cNFTs to standard NFTs, giving them full compatibility across the entire Solana ecosystem.

When to migrate

Consider migrating if:
  • Your holders report issues viewing or trading their NFTs in certain wallets
  • A marketplace you want to list on doesn’t support cNFTs
  • You want to enable features that require standard NFTs (like certain DeFi integrations)
  • Your community prefers the broader compatibility of standard NFTs

How the migration works

  1. The original cNFT is burned
  2. A new standard NFT with identical metadata is minted to the same holder wallet
  3. The holder ends up with the same NFT in a new format — same name, image, and traits
The process happens wallet by wallet. Each holder must opt into the migration by connecting their wallet and signing the transaction.

Running a migration

  1. Go to NFT Suite → cNFT Migration
  2. Select the collection to migrate
  3. Set up the migration campaign — a landing page where holders can connect and migrate
  4. Share the migration link with your community
  5. Monitor progress from the dashboard as holders complete their migrations
Migration is voluntary — holders who don’t migrate keep their cNFTs as-is. You can run the migration campaign for as long as you need.
Incentivize migration by offering a small reward (a Discord role, a whitelist spot, or an airdrop) to holders who complete the migration within a deadline.
