# Update NFT / cNFT

> Edit the on-chain metadata of an NFT or compressed NFT directly from the dashboard.

The Update NFT tool lets you change the metadata of an existing NFT — its name, description, image, or trait attributes — without writing code. Changes are written directly on-chain, so the update is permanent and immediately visible across all marketplaces and wallets.

## What you can update

* **Name** — the token's display name
* **Symbol** — the on-chain token symbol
* **Description** — the text description
* **Image** — upload a new image or paste an image URL
* **Attributes / Traits** — add, remove, or change any trait
* **Creators** — update the on-chain creator list and royalty shares

## How to update

1. Go to **NFT Suite → Metadata & Assets → Update NFT**
2. Paste the NFT's mint address and click **Load**
3. Make your changes in the editor — all current metadata is pre-filled
4. Review the changes carefully
5. Click **Update** — the transaction is submitted on-chain

  On-chain metadata updates are permanent and irreversible. Once submitted, the change cannot be undone. Always double-check your edits before confirming.

## Compressed NFTs (cNFTs)

Apetopia supports updating both standard NFTs and compressed NFTs (cNFTs), which are a cheaper format used by many modern Solana collections. The process is identical — the tool handles the technical differences automatically.

## After updating

Changes may take a few minutes to propagate to marketplaces and wallets. If the old data is still showing, wait a few minutes and refresh.
